Biotium offers a number of polar, membraneimpermeant
fluorescent dyes and related products for cell tracing
applications. These highly positively-charged or negativelycharged
probes can be introduced into cells by microinjections.
Alternatively, some of the probes bearing carboxylic acid groups
have been derivatized into nonpolar acetoxymethyl (AM) esters,
which can easily enter cells and then become rapidly hydrolyzed
by endoesterases into the original polar dyes. |
